No Limit Hold ‘Em Theory And Practice
TwoPlusTwo publishing has one of the best sets of poker books in existence. I give this book the highest possible rating, but the only aside I want to mention is that this is not a book for beginners. You should have a solid base understanding of the game before you try to get into this book.
One of the most important things mentioned the the entire book is what David refers to as the “Fundamental Theorem Of Poker”
Basically: Every time you play differently than you would if you could see the cards face up, you lose. Every time you play the same as you would if you could see the cards, you win. This is a concept you will have to learn from in more detail from the book.
Also, the twoplustwo forum is one of the best poker communities on the web to date. If you are not familiar with them, you are missing out in a big way.
Concepts covered in the book in detail include:
- Manipulating the size of the pot in your favor
- Adjusting play to varying stack sizes
- Winning the battle of mistakes
- Hand Reading
- Implied Odds
- Principles of short stack play
